I had been feeling increasingly fidgety having spent the past year and a half deep in screenplays and feature film development and yet not having anything in way of the moving image to show.. I decided it was time to come out of my self imposed music video exile and try and squeeze in another one or two music videos before the feature takes its hold… And the first one that fell into my lap was with Rizzle Kicks, and it was a whole lot of fun to make! Here’s the video, it’s called Skip To The Good Bit.
I wanted to pay my respect to the late great John Hughes and his high-school movies of the 80’s; Breakfast Club, Weird Science and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The mischievous, anarchic tone of those lusty teenage sagas seemed like a good fit for the Rizzle Kicks and the cheeky sentiment of their song…
We shot this over one long day, mid-week in the middle of a working school in North London. The wonderful Will Poulter kindly cameo’d as our trainee Janitor and pin-up Gemma Atkinson and MTV host Laura Whitmore also managed to gate-crash the staff room party where the lust potion takes control..
Here’s a little ‘behind the scenes’ making of and below are some of my pics of that crazy day.
